Basics of PK

These are a few rules of thumb. Remember these and you will most likely survive longer in PK. However, don't expect to be an expert by reading this. In order to truly gain experience you have to get into the fray and fight... and die. Good Luck!

Your leader.

Always stay with your group leader if possible. Don't wander off or chase yourself, unless you are sure that your leader is afk, etc. Always listen to what they tell you, and try not to flee out of a fight without good reason or your leader tells you to.

Always have a light.

When it is night, or in an area that you know is dark all the time, keep a lantern held. Even if you are not the leader. In a fight with a troll group you might be separated from your group or have to flee out and back to safety. It helps to be able to see before you start to run.

Avoid getting hungry.

It is advisable to set the "You are hungry." and "You are thirsty" message to a different color by way of trigger, if you have Zmud. It is very costly to go haggard because you did not notice that you needed food.

Know the area.

Try not to enter areas you do not know well enough to get out of without too much trouble. It has been the cause of my death on many occasions. Not knowing the zone your in is extremely risky. This also hinders your ability to help others when they ask for assistance in a certain part of that zone.

Get to safety.

Try to get to safety if you are beaten or in critical condition. You can only provide limited help in that state and will very likely RIP if your group loses the battle.

Don't dismount early.

For humans, only dismount if you are within 1 or possibly 2 zones of safety (2 zones if Vials), or unless in dire need. Try to let your horse take you as far as possible before risking being haggard. Because once to that point without any vials left, you have a very low chance of survival.

Try not to panic.

Above all, don't panic. Doing such is the reason many people die when they could have survived. You must stay calm, it is ok to get butterflies, but taking nervousness too far can get you killed. Keeping a calm head on your shoulders will allow you the ability to think of another way out. If you get caught in a flee-trap at beaten, don't keep spaming into the flee-trap think of another way outout.

I hope this might get some of you less experienced players to get out there and learn to fight. I also hope it helps all of you survive longer and do better in PK. I don't know everything, I don't assume to, I only hope to help you gain a little more knowledge and to help with the fight against the shadow. :)
