Knowing the Zones

In order to survive in PK, knowing the zone you are in is incredibly important. You have to be able to go to places that people yell for and be able to avoid being traped by taking an alternate way. In order to even go home you need to know where you are. You can see how important this is when you find yourself lost with a group on your tail. It is very depressing to know you need to get out, but realize you don't know where out is. :P This will also get you caught in fleetraps or traped in a dead end, etc. Knowing the zone is the first and biggest step in becoming a good pker.

Learning them.

A good way to learn the zones is plan old exploring. Go through those places everytime the option arises. That way you will become more and more accustome to the place. A problem arises, however, when you need to learn heavy PK area's (such as blight, gap, winding). Well a good way to do this is by making a newbie character and explore around with him. This way you don't risk losing any experience, eq, or tps from dieing in the zone due to getting lost, mobrip, etc. You will be suprized how much better you can do in PK when you have mastered the zone. Good ways to test yourself involve spaming around without a light to guide the way. If you are this well accustomed then catching you wil l be hard for anyone that plans to do harm. :)

What to look for.

In learning and exploring, you need to start to point out to yourself different routes to get to a certain place, fleetrap points against you and for you, doors and places that can become a trap, other zones that connect to that zone, etc. Those things are very valuable information to know, and also can help you avoid making a bad decision. If you are runing down from blight and you hear gap is being blocked, you are going to need to know anotherway to get to safty. If you are chasing down a person, knowing where to cut himoff and trap him in a fleetrap helps alot.

This is just a short article about learning zones. I put this in here to emphisize the importance of knowing the battle ground. It is invalueble in PK.
