13 : Wed Jan 17 (Dorgo) :: Leadership
As many of you know the clans will shortly undergo a major restructuring. For some of you this means finding a home in a new clan, and for others it means welcoming new brothers (and a couple of sisters) into your clanhome. What it also means is there will be several new opportunities for advancement. As groups of trollocs merge, the strongest will contest one another to see who is more worthy. New leaders will emerge, where before they have been content to follow those they knew and trusted well. This is a good thing, good for the growth and strength of the forces of the Great Master.
A few tips for the potential new leaders to keep in mind:
Always know the terrain. Know where you're going, and know where to fall back to if needed. Don't ever enter a fight without first knowing where to rally your forces if you must retreat.
Gather what intelligence you can. Know if you're going up against a superior group or an inferior group. If you know you cannot win don't fight. Instead choose to battle somewhere more in your favor, for instance at one of our patrols.
Take care of your followers. We can ill afford to fight a war of attrition with the humans. Until our army increases in size we must conserve our strength whenever possible. It is not worth the life of one of ours to kill one of theirs. Throw your troops away casually and you'll find you have none left to fight with when you need them. To ensure sufficient beasts come to your call you must instill in them the faith that you will keep them alive, or they will not follow you.
Learn about your fellow trollocs. Discover their own strengths and weaknesses. Know who to send out as a scout, or to chase down a lone human. Learn who is proficient in what areas. Deploy your forces correctly and you can do much with few.
If you're going to lead, then LEAD. Do not show hesitation or uncertainty. Do not tolerate dissension in the ranks. If you're leading then you have every right to expect obedience. But don't demand too much, for nothing can be as bloody as trollocs turning on their leader.
Learn these and use them, and once I see that being done i'll give further instruction.
