Warriors

The warrior class is widely regarded as the standard class. Good for the use of newbies upon first starting the mud. This class is probably the easiest to learn the mud with because of its good hp and easy weapon's practices. You can get pretty hurt with a warrior without worrying about RIPing. In this article I will explain many things that you will need to know as a warrior.

Among these is:

The Warrior's Life

With a warrior you must get used to the idea of getting pretty beat up all the time. Warriors go through a cycle of getting beat and battered by just about everything and then sitting around waiting to get hp. They are made for this, with a plus in strength and constitution and a minus in dexterity. Warriors are hardly seen in anything but a lot of armor. It's not all that bad, once you get good enough though, and your armor absorption is high a warrior can take a lot of punishment without feeling all that much. This is partly due to the weapons most abs warriors use.

Finding Some Nice Clothes

A warrior is made for absorption gear, or abs. Most warriors have good strength and constitution but bad dex, which makes them prime candidates for armor. Without a good abs percentage you probably won't be able to last long in a fight, but of course that is probably true about most equipment area's. However, getting beat up by an elk at level 30 isn't funny. (Not that it ever happened to me but….) Typically you should look for chainmail sleeves and leggings, a full helmet, some steel gauntlets, thick boots, and don't forget a nice burnished plate before you do anything serious (aka PK).

The Big F***ing Sword or…. The Big F***ing Axe?

Good question, but this one is up to you. As far as long blades are concerned, you can get good bash and great ob out of a good sword. Axes are nice for even better bash, but often times you must sacrifice ob for that bashing machine. Clubs can have awesome bash and they are easier to find then axes, but the ob is quite worst too. Warriors can use just about any weapon you want them to but most of the time this is long blades, axes or clubs.

Bash Bash Smite Smite

Bash is probably the most important skill a warrior can have, besides being able to wield you weapon without hurting your self. As a warrior you should get both bash and your main weapon to 99% if nothing else. The reason being, is that unless you plan to use long blades and have 19 str (so you have good ob), your ob alone will probably not win the fight, even then. Considering you are going to be taking hits every round, it does no good to not be able to hit your opponent. Bash will be able to solve that problem if you can pull a couple off. Many times bash will be the only reason you can even hit your target. Get this ability good and you will do much better in a fight.

That can't be it!?

Na, that's not it. After you practice your weapon, bash, level 6 ride, and survival it is time to be thinking of what to practice now. Well there are several options as a warrior.
To name a few:

Weapon To make re-eq'ing easier and allow more options for a better weapon.
Kick Good for when fighting another basher. The kick will interrupt his bash.
Rescue Your made to take pain, some people are not. (channelers for example)
Notice Good for making sure your warrior does not suffer too many stabs.
Track Invaluable for pking.
Search For opening up hidden doors (very helpful in the south and when smobing)
Survival Extra weight does not hurt you. Might as well be able to get 30 stabs out of a cute deer :P
Etc. It is your character, do what you want.

What ARE They Good For Anyway?

Warriors are the buffer zone between the enemy and others. They take the hits, while saving others in order for them to deliver a good counterstrike (namely channelers). It is the life of any armor wearing player, and most of the time that means a warrior. Besides, we can take being beat up like nothing, hit extremely hard, and bash our opponents around the room… wouldn't you like to? :)
